Let the Adventures Begin!

I've contemplated creating a blog for quite some time now; my sister and I even got so far as thinking up names for a blog we would create together, a place where we'd share tips and recipes and other fun things. We'd send each other pictures of meals we'd made and things we liked, but it never ended up making it's way to the blog world...


All these months later, and I finally took the plunge! The motivation behind Ms. Adventures in Makeup is all thanks to my friend Melissa, who has a YouTube channel all about makeup - check her out at MakeupMinnie83. Anyhow, Melissa and I have known each other for a few years, and it was only recently that we discovered our mutual love of makeup. Melissa told me about her channel, and I was blown away! I knew about YouTube, but I thought it was mostly for people to post recordings of their cat's crazy antics and elaborately choreographed wedding dance videos (ahem...guilty); was I surprised when I discovered gurus showing eye shadow swatches and application tutorials! Once I watched my first makeup video, I was hooked, and thus began my mild obsession with makeup and beauty.


Much to our husbands' dismay, Melissa and I would talk makeup whenever we got together...and text about makeup...and Facebook IM about makeup...you get the picture. One day, Melissa mentioned us doing a challenge in which we have to use the same palette and create a different look each day, pushing us out of our comfort zone. I found this to be a fantastic idea - only problem being she had YouTube to keep her accountable, and all I had was a verbal means of confirmation. I suppose I could post my pictures on Facebook, but I want something more specific, where I can also share my thoughts on all things beauty when the need strikes me. My goal is not to post dozens of reviews a week, or even to post every day, but to share with you things that excite me in the world of makeup and beauty products, issues I face when it comes to buying and applying products, fun challenges I create for myself or with other people...and maybe I'll sneak in a recipe or funny story here and there, if that's OK with you. So, thanks for visiting my little corner of the internet - I hope to see you around here often.
