Hello again lovely readers!

I received an Influenster Vox Box awhile ago, which included the new Covergirl Super Sizer Mascara, as well as the new Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner.* After trying out the products out, I want to share my thoughts with you!

I'll start off with the Super Sizer Mascara:

Covergirl Mascara

When I read the product description, my first thought was that this mascara was gimmicky. The mascara wand is touted as being "unique" (aren't they all?), and the package instructs you to twirl the wand as you apply - similar to the application process for Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.  According to the Covergirl website: The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara gives you 400% more corner-to-corner volume for full, fanned out lashes. Our amazing Lash Styler transforms even small lashes— just twirl as you apply it to your lashes for an instantly Super Sized lash look.

Super Sizer package description
The wand is actually pretty interesting. It is made of plastic, with hard bristles on two sides that taper from longer to shorter, and little tiny bristles on the other two side that essentially create  "flat" sections. From what I've read, the idea is to nestle the flat side of the brush against the base of your lashes to deposit the most product and create a dark lashline, and then twirl the brush so that the longer, tapered bristles deposit the color through to the ends.

The suggested application is easier said then done. When I press the flat side to the base of my lashes, it does create a dramatic lashline, however the excess product that builds up there has a tendency to smudge upwards onto my lids. Granted, the smudging is minimal - you can't even see it if you have eyeliner on, but if I'm not wearing eyeliner it is noticeable. Additionally, the whole "twirling" process is a bit difficult to pull off smoothly, and requires practice. To be honest, I find that for me the best way to apply the mascara it to use the bristle side and sweep it on as I would any other mascara. When done this way, I get a nice, even coat that has pretty dramatic results.
The formula leans towards the wet side, which is great as it allows you more time to play around with the wand. The formula builds very well - though you won't need to, you can apply layer after layer without clumping. Once dry, I experience no flaking, smudging, or transferring. My lashes look good all day, yet when it's time to take off my makeup I don't have any trouble removing the mascara.  All in all, it a beautiful mascara that creates long, full, far-from-natural looking lashes.

Now, onto the Intensify me! Liquid Liner:

Like the Super Sizer mascara, the Intensify me! liner has a unique applicator; instead of  having a pointed tip like most pen liners, this tip is rounded, like a paddle. The idea is that the liner can create a thin or a thick line, depending on how you hold the applicator.
From the Covergirl website: Get the control of a pencil with the intensity of a liquid eyeliner for beautifully defined eyes every time. Our all-new paddle-shaped tip gives you two looks in one—thick and dramatic or thin and elegant. The intense black formula glides on smoothly and dries quickly for instant drama.

Intensify Me! package description
Let's start things off on a positive note: the formula is great! It is a richly pigmented matte-black, it is smooth in consistency, and it stays in place once dry (side note: it takes some time to really set, so do not mess with your eyes for quite awhile or you will end up with smudges).
Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. From my experience, this liner is super hard to apply. The paddle-like tip is just awkward, and I cannot get a straight line, not to mention a good point to my wing. When I try to apply a thick line, it skips and ends up crooked. If I do not wait long enough for the liner to dry, it gets all over the place. The results below took a lot of patience, and some major clean up.

Final thoughts:

I do not like the liner one bit. Maybe I'm not getting the hang of it, but to me it is more trouble than it's worth. Give me a pointed liner any day. It's really too bad they had to mess with the applicator tip, because the formula is quite nice. If you have the time and patience to figure out how to make it work for you, it might end up being a good eyeliner, but for me it's just not in the stars.
As for the mascara, I am in love! While I don't really apply it as instructed, I see amazing results applying it like a regular mascara. I am super impressed with the way my lashes look (have you seen the before and after?!?) , and the fact that I have noticed no flaking or smudging makes me a happy girl. This is one drugstore mascara I will gladly purchase once I run out!

I hope this post helps you out if you were trying to decide whether or not to try either the Super Sizer Mascara or the Intensify Me! Liquid Liner! Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to live a beautiful life!

  1. That mascara!! Holy Moly! I think I am going to have to pick it up and give it a try! I haven't had the best experience with Covergirl liquid eyeliner pen type products in general. Shame this one doesn't seem to be any better. Great review -xo
